There are two main pathways to long-term immigration in Ireland, and these are residency and naturalisation. See our information below for more details or take our free visa assessment and within 24 hours we will call you back with specialist advice tailored to your situation.

Long-Term Residency

If you are not from the European Economic Area, long term migration in Ireland is available for those who have worked in Ireland for five years or more on a work permit scheme. If successful, the applicant will gain a stamp which is valid for five years. A spouse and any dependent children of the applicant can also apply for residency at the same time. Some nationalities do not need residence permits to live in Ireland. To see if this applies to you, take our free visa assessment today.

Irish Naturalisation

If you wish to become an Irish citizen, you must present your case to the immigrant council of Ireland. As part of your application you must confirm that you are at least 18 years of age and have resided in Ireland for at least a year. In addition, you must confirm that you have spent at least four of the eight years previously in the country. You must be of good character and willing to pledge an oath of loyalty to your adopted country.

If you are married to an Irish citizen, you can apply for citizenship if you have been living in the country for at least a year and for two of the four previous years. In addition, you must have been married for no less than three years and be willing to pledge an oath of loyalty to the state.

An application to the Irish naturalisation and immigration service can be difficult, requiring many levels of paperwork and taking up to six months to process. Global Visas present thousands of similar cases to the Irish embassy every year and are uniquely equipped to help you whatever your visa requirements.
